All the information and photographs were collected by Oleg Vyacheslavovich Podgornov, an employee of the Antey sports club, from the same Bystrinsky district of the city of Rezh in the Sverdlovsk region, where Yuri Doroshenko lived and studied before entering the institute. He was assisted in collecting information by the employees of the Bystrinskaya library and the museum of school №44, where Yuri Doroshenko studied, veterans I.N. Kolmakova, O.I. Pinaeva (Tambov), A.A. Novosyolova, S.A. Kukartseva and other fellow countrymen who were not indifferent to the history of their region.

In 1935, Nikolai Danilovich Doroshenko (Yuri's father) graduated from the Kiev Mining and Metallurgical Institute and was sent to the Kursk region. When the war began, he and his family were evacuated as a specialist for the construction of a plant in the Urals in the city of Rezh. The family of N.D. Doroshenko's family consisted of five people: his wife Nadezhda Artemovna, children - Yuri (born January 29, 1938), Volodya (born in 1941), Irina (born in 1945, born in Rezh). In Rezh, N.D. Doroshenko worked as an engineer in the OSMC-6 (special construction and installation unit) at the construction site of a chemical plant and a residential village. Since there was no housing at the construction site yet, the family was quartered in the center of Rezh, where Yuri went to first grade.

In 1943, according to the development plan, the first two-story log houses, a club and a barrack-type building for a school were erected on site №5 (in 1945, school №44 was already located in two wooden barracks). The Doroshenko family moved to st. Kalinina to house №1, and Yuri transferred to study at school №44, which he graduated from in 1955 with a medal.

Yuri was a modest but persistent guy, always achieving his goals. He was friends with Vyacheslav Golenduhin and Yuri Pinaev. They often went on skiing and hiking trips, which they fell in love with thanks to their physical education teachers Vladimir Yakovlevich Skornyakov and Nikolay Grigorievich Golenduhin. Once they went on a ski trip through the "Pyatovskaya" glade (near the Rezh River) to the village of Glinka, to visit their classmates. The head of the school tourism club was a young geography and astronomy teacher Iya Vitalievna Melehina.

Among Yuri's teachers, it is necessary to single out the physical education teacher Nikolay Golenduhin and the head of the school hiking club - the geography teacher Iya Vitalievna Melehina. We will return to them later, for a special reason.

The boys were very active, read a lot, participated in all school events, studied in the school drama club, performed in plays in the club located next to the school. Yuri had a romantic nature, as evidenced by an incident in the 6th grade: he and his friend Yuri Pinaev ran away from home to enter the nautical school, they were caught only in Taganrog.

In 1954, his father died of a heart attack, and at 16, Yuri took on the responsibility of being the eldest man in the family. They lived very poorly, after his father's death, his mother worked as a cleaner, and Yuri had to wear his father's clothes, since there was no money to buy new ones. He also had to pay for his studies in the 9th and 10th grades.

Yuri's father, Nikolai Danilovich Doroshenko, who ruined his health during the construction of a chemical plant, is buried in Rezh on Orlova Gora.

At school, Yuri Doroshenko was interested in physics and studied radio engineering in the school physics club (which became a serious life passion) under the guidance of the talented teacher Kuzma Varfalomeevich Taralenko, who managed to ignite in Yuri a thirst for knowledge, "forced" him to rethink his attitude to studying and knowledge in general. As a result - an excellent graduation from school and an excellent passing of the entrance exam in physics to the Ural Polytechnic Institute.

The photo was taken at the entrance to the school. On May 25, 1955, the first graduation of students from school №44 took place: five boys and six girls. The photo shows Yuri Doroshenko's classmates and teachers, with whom he communicated, studied and grew up. In the first row, third from the right, sits Raisa Lvovna Levina. The class teacher of this class, a teacher of Russian language and literature. From a letter from a 1956 graduate, silver medalist I.V. Usova about R.L. Levina: "I have the warmest memories of her for the rest of my life, I have never met such a literary teacher in my life... And how she taught her lessons! She tried to convey to us her concepts of everything, her views on life, which were imbued with true spirituality. My sons have finished school, my grandchildren are studying, but communicating with them, I have never met teachers so in love and knowledgeable about their subject. Thank you Raisa Lvovna for being able to instill in us a love of literature."

It is also worth mentioning Nikolay Grigorievich Golenduhin (physical education and labor teacher) - in this photo he is in the first row, sitting on the far right. He paid a lot of attention to sports: he skied and participated in slalom, did track and field, in all its diversity, in connection with which, when he was called up to the ranks of the Soviet Army, he ended up in the prestigious troops of the Ural District, in those years the commander of the district was Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov. After the service, he devoted his entire working life to the education of the younger generation, worked as a physical education and labor teacher at school №44. He held tournaments in team sports and, of course, ski training and skating. For which he had to equip playgrounds, pave ski trails and fill the skating rink with his own hands.

In 1955, Yuri left for the city of Sverdlovsk and entered the radio engineering faculty of UPI, specializing in "Automatic, telemechanical and electrical measuring instruments and devices." Mother Nadezhda Artemovna with her two youngest children, having sold their property, moved to relatives in the city of Aktyubinsk.

At the institute, Yuri was actively involved in sports, being a 1st-class athlete in Greco-Roman wrestling, with a height of 180 cm, he participated in competitions at the city and regional level. Lack of money forced Yuri to work part-time in the evenings and on weekends unloading wagons to help his mother with two children with money.

There was a time when Yuri courted Zina Kolmogorova, who was also a student at UPI. He went with the girl to visit her, where he was introduced to her parents. Later, their feelings cooled, but this did not prevent them from maintaining good relations. Speaking frankly with his childhood friends at the 5th precinct, Yuri admitted that he would not start his own family until he helped his mother raise his younger brother and sister, Olga Pinaeva recalls.

Now let's recall the interview of Maya Piskareva with Irina Rashevskaya, Yuri Doroshenko's sister. Or rather, the very end of this interview, a conversation about one of the photographs from Yuri's funeral:

MP: ... I understand that it may be difficult for you to remember the difficult moments of your brother's death, but please try to look at these photographs and try to find your relatives. I would like to make sure that it was your brother Yuri who was buried with Zina on March 9.

ID: Maya, I watched them in one breath! There are so many photos that I see for the first time. And there is a close-up of my mother with her sister (my aunt) and some girl. Probably, this is Yuri's friend, or a very good acquaintance!

MP: Thank you very much, dear Irina Nikolaevna! So, it was definitely Yuri and Zina. The unknown girl next to your relatives is probably a UPI student, and maybe, with time, one of the former UPI students will recognize her. Perhaps this is the same girl who, according to rumors, identified Yuri's body in the morgue.

I came across this photo while looking through the photo archive collected by the efforts of residents, employees of the library and the museum of the Bystrinsky district school in Rezh, some of whom still remember Yuri Doroshenko. The photo shows the full name of the girl standing next to Yuri's mother and aunt:

1959 Farewell to Yuri Doroshenko, Iya Vitalievna Golenduhina (head of the school hiking club), mother and aunt
1959 Farewell to Yuri Doroshenko, Iya Vitalievna Golenduhina (head of the school hiking club), mother and aunt

In this photo, next to Yuri's mother and aunt, there is not a UPI student, as was previously believed, but that same Iya Vitalievna Melehina - a young teacher of geography and astronomy, head of the hiking club at school №44, where Yuri studied. Above, I specifically highlighted her last name, along with the last name of Nikolay Grigorievich Golenduhin, a physical education and labor teacher. After 1955, they became spouses, and Iya Vitalievna changed her last name:

1960 Iya Vitalievna and Nikolay Grigorievich Golenduhins

It is known that Iya Vitalievna came to work at the school where Yuri studied, after graduating from the Sverdlovsk State Pedagogical Institute, around 1954, as a young specialist:

One of the popular sports in the 50-60s was tourism. Young people were prepared for all sorts of difficulties, which they solved and overcame on their own. The trips were on foot and by water. The students of schools №44 under the guidance of I.V. Melehina and №1 under the guidance of V.A. Starova, graduates of the Sverdlovsk Pedagogical Institute, went on the trips. During the trips, the children worked with a compass and maps, looked for minerals, and explored historical and natural monuments. Popular routes were: the Rezh River, the Neiva River, Murzinka, Bely Kamen, Koltashi, and Glinka.

Iya Vitalievna Melehina (Golenduhina), a geography and astronomy teacher and graduate of the Pedagogical Institute, was seriously involved in hiking since her student days and visited many places in the Soviet Union. When she came to school, she led a tourist club. She devoted a lot of time to hikes and excursions with her students. Where only tourists have not visited in the vicinity of the Rezhevsky district. She conducted classes "the night sky above us", the children knew each constellation and the story about it.

I would like to add on my own behalf - all the teachers made their invaluable contribution to Yuri's development as a person. Some of Yuri's teachers instilled in him a love of work, sports and study, caring for others, and some helped him decide on his choice of profession. After all, they give us not only our first knowledge, but also a start in life.

And tuition fees for senior classes were abolished a year after Yuri graduated from school - on June 6, 1956, the USSR Council of Ministers issued Resolution №768, which stated: "In order to create the most favorable conditions for the implementation of universal secondary education in the country and for young people to obtain higher education - abolish tuition fees for senior classes of secondary schools, secondary specialized and higher educational institutions of the USSR from September 1, 1956."
