We can't see a thing, neither Kholat Syakhl, nor the location of the tent, Pumsalnel appeared for brief moments. I will say right away, so as not to get any expectations: there was no opportunity to photograph/specify anything on locations of the tent with the current visibility and the huge amount of snow on the slope. In the first half of the day I went to the 3rd tributary of Lozva to look at photograph and the current state of the cornice of Askinadzi. After lunch, at about 15 o'clock we went to put up a replica tent on the spur. The pass was visible at this time, Kholat Syakhl was not visible, the edge of the spur was visible. At times there was a weak wind, but generally quiet.

The replica tent (without the stove) was set up at the slope digging up a hole similar to the one in this photo (for those who think that in this photo the area was leveled for a tent). The 2.5 meter avalanche probe did not reach the stones this year i.e. this year there was 4+ meters of snow above the area of the tent. At the area of the tent there was one and a half meters of snow at some point, and KAN's pole was completely hidden by snow. We leveled the area of ​​the required dimensions, from the slope side the snow was dug up by 60-70 cm. We stretched it on ski poles and skis, specially brought for this. It is worth noting that under the freshly fallen snow of several days there was dense blizzard snow, much denser than what Volodya and I had encountered in other years - it was very difficult to dig even with a thinner (than my ala-ski14) cross-country ski, literally little by little, and the ski poles did not fit into the snow, we had to persistently hammer out a hole.

Part of the group stayed overnight in the tent-replica on the slope of the spur, and I and another participant went down to the base camp. We agreed to conduct a night experiment. At five in the morning, in clothes similar to Zina's, accompanied by another participant, I went up to the tent without a flashlight. Along the way I recorded my comments on a dictaphone, although I haven't listened to the record yet), and then went down to the cedar, again without a flashlight. Those who spent the night also went down, everyone in the clothes they dared possible to strip down to. In addition Stas Evdokimov was carrying a load (25 kilograms, according to my calculations).

Before the descent, I left a flashlight with a square battery next to the tent, the same one I recently experimented with in the Moscow region. It was clearly visible due to the snowfall/visibility almost along the entire descent along the slope, both from the 4th tributary of Lozva in the area of ​​the base camp, and from the Cedar. The visibility on the ascent was such that neither the pass, nor the main camp, nor the spur were visible; moreover, in conditions of such visibility, I deviated significantly from the desired direction and climbed towards the pass, towards the outlier.

Всё так же ничего толком не видно, ни ХЧ, ни отрога с МП, Пумс иногда появлялся. Сразу скажу, чтобы не теплились ожидания: на МП ничего снимать/уточнять при имевшейся видимости и огромном количестве снега на склоне - не было возможности. В первой половине дня сходил в третий приток Лозьвы - посмотреть/снять нынешнее состояние карниза Аскинадзи (см. фото59). После обеда, часов в 15 отправились ставить палатку-реплику на отроге. Перевал в это время был виден, ХЧ не видно, кромка отрога была видна. Временами слабый ветер, но в общем - тихо.

Палатку-реплику (без печки) установили под уступом полки на месте рытья ямы59 (для тех, кто считает, что на этом фото отрывалось место под палатку и там же оная была установлена). Лавинный щуп в 2,5 метра сейчас не доставал до камней - то есть снега в этом году над ямой было метра 4+ (выше на "языке" полки было полтора метра в какой-то точке, а стойки Кана на полке полностью скрыты снегом). Выровняли площадку необходимых размеров, со стороны склона снег был подрыт на 60-70 см. Растягивали на лыжных палках и лыжах, специально привезённых для этого. Стоит отметить, что под свежевыпавшим за несколько дней снегом находился плотный метелевой снег, значительно плотнее того, что нам с Володей доводилось встречать в иные года - копать даже более тонкой (чем моя аля-лыжа14) беговой лыжей было очень трудно, буквально по чуть-чуть, а лыжные палки не вгонялись в снег, надо было упорно продалбывать дыру.

Часть группы осталась ночевать в палатке на склоне отрога, а я и еще один участник спустились в базовый лагерь. Мы договорились провести ночной эксперимент. В пять утра, в одежде, похожей на Зинину, под охраной другого участника, я поднимаюсь к палатке без фонарика (по пути я записывал свои комментарии на диктофон, правда, пока не прослушивал, что происходило), а затем спускаюсь к кедру, снова без фонарика. + те, кто ночевал, тоже спускаются, кто в какой одежде осмелится. Стас Евдокимов, в частности, спустился с баулом (25 килограммов, по моим подсчетам).

Перед спуском я установил рядом с палаткой фонарик с квадратной батарейкой, тот самый, с которым недавно экспериментировал в Подмосковье. Он был хорошо виден из-за снегопада/видимости почти на всем протяжении спуска по склону, как с 4ПЛ в районе базового лагеря, так и с кедра (а видимость на подъеме была такая, что ни перевала, ни ГЛ, ни отрога не было видно; более того, в условиях такой видимости я существенно отклонился от нужного направления и полез в сторону перевала, в сторону останцов).
